LUCKNOW: Local govt has approved nearly Rs 40 crore for set up of solar powered street lights in Uttar Pradesh. Primary assistant Jawed Usmani, who was presiding over a evaluation conference on Weekend, requested authorities of the UP New Energy Development Power (UPNEDA) to ensure that another Rs 29 crore is provided from the Center.
The LED type street lights, he said, will not only be set up in various regions but also in over 2,000 Lohia grms where they are required the most. In all over 11,100 solar road lighting will be set up in the economical year 2013-14. He also requested the authorities of UPNEDA to see that govt purchases relevant to economical situation, relevant economical assistance and plan choices to make sure long lasting performance of the system be put in place.
